Memorial diamonds are chemically, structurally, and visually the same as any other diamond, lab or mined. The only difference is their source: carbon extracted from hair, fur, or ashes.
How much ashes or hair do I need? Does the amount ever change?
We typically require 4g of fur or 60g of ashes. This amount doesn’t change, regardless of the size of diamond, unless it’s a particularly large one.
How long does this take?
Most Ossu memorial diamonds are completed in around 5–6 months, including jewellery production. We’ll keep you updated along the way, so you’re never left wondering what’s going on with your beloved.

I thought about doing a memorial diamond for my dog for a long time, but was always stopped by the insane prices for smaller diamonds that other companies quoted. It felt too good to be true when I found Ossu, a company that was local to me and had very reasonable prices. On top of doing as much research I could, I also asked a lot of questions about the process, the pricing, and the company itself, and each question was responded to by Hinly with great detail and the utmost patience. I never once felt pressured to buy or felt uncomfortable, and in fact, the excellent customer care was what gained my trust as I chose to take a leap of faith with Ossu, and I am so glad I did as the end product was exactly what I wanted and more.

Everything about this process was amazing. I lost my dog to cancer, but when I found out he had it I collected his fur and sent it in. Every step of the way Hinly and the team were super responsive, answered all my questions and never left me wondering what step the process was in. I had full trust that they would care for my boy’s fur and create the most beautiful diamond I’d ever seen. If you were thinking of having a diamond made of your dog’s fur or ashes you should go to Ossu Diamonds. You won’t regret it.

I rarely leave reviews, but Ossu deserves one. I would leave six stars if I could. From the beginning Hinly and the Ossu team showed a caring and thoughtful approach, at a time that can be very emotional for pet owners. Throughout the process, I was kept informed, sent pictures and guided on next steps. The initial package and final presentation were both beautiful, and were a reflection of the care Ossu showed from start to finish. And our diamond? It’s more perfect than I imagined, uniquely ours (we even got a princess cut!), and something I’ll treasure forever.

I did a lot of research since I was considering a memorial diamond and by chance, Ossu came up. The more I learned about the company, the more it resonated with what I wanted. A diamond that had the hue of the original carbon content. The other companies were only offering coloured diamonds which didn’t seem natural to me, and also at two times the cost. I wanted to support a Canadian owned business, and what made it even better was that I was also supporting an AAPI business. If you were ever considering a memorial diamond, do it, and choose Ossu.

Saying Goodbye To Your Pet One Last Time Is The Most Painful Thing You’ll Go Through
I know because I’ve been there.
This is our dog, Dodo.
After a huge health scare, I had to seriously think about how we would honour her.
I wanted a way to preserve her memory forever, something that felt good enough for how much she means to our family.
My research led me to memorial diamonds.
Nothing Says “You’re My World” Like A Diamond
I fell in love with the idea of transforming something as mundane as fur, or something as depressing as ashes, into the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen.
With you, every single day. Lasting and unbreakable. Breathtakingly unique.
It’s no wonder this is a tribute adored and trusted by even celebrities.
Wondering what this would look like for your beloved?
A diamond is pure carbon. Our, and our pets’, ashes and hair contain carbon.
What we do is use this carbon to custom grow a genuine diamond in our lab, by emulating the same processes that form diamonds in nature.
Visually and chemically the same as any other diamond, made using a piece of your beloved.
How It Works
Step 01
Receive Your Welcome Kit
Comes with everything you need to safely send us either 60 grams of ashes, 4 grams of hair or fur, or a combination:
A secure container
A spatula for handling material
And a prepaid return label for easy delivery back
Step 02
Carbon Extraction
We use a two-stage purification process. First, controlled chemical purification to remove minerals and non-carbon elements, followed by high-temperature treatment in an oxygen-free environment to further refine the carbon without burning it away. The result is a highly purified graphite powder.
Step 03
Diamond Growth
Ossu is the first memorial diamond company to specialize in chemical vapour deposition, or CVD. Because CVD grows diamonds from carbon in gas form, we use a proprietary process to convert your beloved’s purified carbon into a carbon-rich gas (methane) before introducing it into a sealed chamber with a diamond seed. Microwave plasma then releases carbon atoms from the gas, allowing them to crystallize layer by layer until your diamond forms.
Step 04
Cutting & Polishing
Every diamond initially comes out as an unsuspecting cube. We meticulously cut and polish this cube to reveal the sparkle hiding inside, in the exact shape you’ve chosen. This is also where we have your diamond personally graded and certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI) for authenticity.
Step 05
Jewelry Setting
Our skilled jewelers get to work, handcrafting your bespoke solid 18K gold jewelry setting of choice. All jewelry is made to order, meaning yours is crafted just for you, and you alone.
Step 06
Homecoming
It’s time for your beloved to come back to you! We’ll celebrate their momentous return right along with you!
After 5–6 Months, You Will Have A Diamond You’ll Never Want To Take Off
On top of that, every purchase includes
International Gemological Institute (IGI) certification & report for diamond authenticity
Solid 18K gold jewellery setting
24/7 care and updates throughout the process
We’re Not The First To Do Ashes to Diamonds
But here’s what our customers love about Ossu specifically:
No. 1
Heart-led Care
When we looked into other companies doing something similar, we found the experience lacking humanity — distant, and transactional.
From the moment you connect with us (even if you don’t end up placing an order), we show up with heart, care, and integrity. And throughout the process, you can expect timely updates and check-ins for what is likely to be a very emotional time for you.
No. 2
Premium But Accessible
Memorial diamonds are expensive to make. They’re not mass-produced like the generic lab diamonds you see online, and a lot of care and precision goes into making the process smooth for you.
That being said, you’ll find we’ve struck a healthy balance between premium pricing and something that’s still within reach, with our diamonds starting from $2,300 for a 1 carat loose.
No. 3
Timely
We’ve heard stories of people who’d had to wait 12 — even 24 — months just to get their beloved back.
We don’t have nearly as complex supply chains, so your typical wait time is only 5–6 months in comparison.
No. 4
A Colour All Yours
Ossu’s diamonds aren’t treated or altered to create a specific colour. Their colour is influenced naturally by the carbon and trace elements within your beloved’s ashes or fur. Like a well-aged whisky, nitrogen and other microscopic defects create shades ranging from off-clear to champagne, amber, and cognac.
However, should you prefer, we can remove these traces to produce a clear diamond. Simply let us know when you order.

Now… You Have 3 Choices
Choice one
You decide this isn’t right for you
It’s a unique, beautiful, and meaningful way to honour your beloved pet, but you say “No.”
Maybe their ashes will be fine sitting where they are, tucked away. Or perhaps you’re okay with other options like photo albums and other keepsakes.
That’s okay. We want you to follow your heart! That said, if you’ve read this far, I don’t think “it doesn’t have to be too special” is your mantra. So maybe it’s number two?
Choice two
You come back to this later
You feel good about the idea of a memorial diamond, but you decide to put off starting for now.
Here’s why you shouldn’t wait: this process takes time. Five to six months can fly by, but a lot happens in that time.
If you close this page, maybe you’ll think to yourself, “I’ll do this when the time comes.”
But the time can come when you least expect it.
(We’ve had a customer who lost their dog to cancer while their diamond was in growth.)
The last thing we want is for you to regret not doing this sooner.
Whether it’s moving out of grief limbo and doing something for them, or simply being able to show them their diamond now, while they’re still here, and having it with you when the time comes.
Here’s how to avoid any regrets:

“Are These Real Diamonds?” And Other Smart Questions
Are these real diamonds?
What’s your pricing?
Our diamonds start from $2,300 (1 carat, loose). What determines the final amount is the size of your diamond and jewellery setting. Scroll up for our full pricing table.
Do you offer financing or payment plans?
We do! For our Canadian customers, you can use Shop Pay and Affirm to pay in monthly installments.
Who is this for?
This is for people who love their pets more than anything in the world, who consider them family, and worthy of an incredible tribute. We don’t ever believe they were “just a pet.” If you feel the same, you’re in the right place.
This is for you if you want something unique, lasting, breathtaking, and something worth talking about with friends and family.
How is this any different from other memorial jewellery?
Unlike lockets or similar pieces, there’s no risk of loose parts causing the ashes to fall out. The diamond is literally made using a part of them. And diamonds are forever. We also use solid 18K gold: tarnish-resistant and durable.
Can I choose the colour of my diamond?
You can choose between natural hues of cognac that arise from their unique chemistry, or colourless, where we essentially remove these traces for a “purer” stone. There’s no right or wrong choice here, it’s up to you!
Can I have my diamond set in jewellery?
You absolutely can! We use solid 18K gold for our jewellery settings. Alternatively, you can also opt to get just the diamond, and have it set by your local or family jeweller instead.
Do you offer insurance?
We partner with Jewelers Mutual to provide coverage in the event you lose or damage your memorial diamond piece. We’ll send you instructions on how to get your piece insured upon delivery of your diamond.
What if I have other questions?
Awesome! We’d love to help you get clarity and answers. Book a call with us here, and we’ll talk it through. It also helps to go over these things in person and actually get to know who will be handling your beloved.
